| THE TEMPLE OF FINE ARTS put up a creditable
show to celebrate Deepavali. The dancers were reinforced by classical dancers
as well as a band from KL. What was impressive was the the high level of
organisation which enabled the stories the dancers told to be done with
panache and with no time wasting. Equally excellent was treatment
of the guests at dinner, the volunteer helpers making sure they wanted
for nothing and playing their allotted roles as if they had been doing
it every night.
The show started sharp at 8.15 pm the stated and promised time. No one waited for late VIPs. The president's speech simply addressed those present as "Ladies and Gentlemen". The Painful Formula of "Yang Berhormat, Tan Sri, Puan Sri, Dato Dato Datin Datin, gentlemen of the Press, Ladies and Gentlemen" was, to our relief, abandoned Altogether it was an evening of bliss. And an example for all other organisers to follow |
| The Temple of Fine Arts is a non-profit organisation offering lessons in Bharatanatyam, Odisi, Kathak and other Indian folk dances. North Indian and Karnatic music is also taught. The Temple, located at Babington Avenue sells vegetarian food as well. . |
