Osteoarthristis of the knee
SUSIAN WAS SUFFERING from osteoarthritis of the knee. After a month
of pain and discomfort she consulted the usual experts and doctors and
physiotherapists, but it was no use. She found it more and more painful
going upstairs to the bed room in her bungalow. The doctor suggested moving
the bed to the ground floor or better still she should live in a single
storey house
Help came from an unexpected quarter. It was on a visit to Singapore
with her husband when, browsing in a bookshop, she came across two
books. They contained recommended diets that waved a magic
wand - and within ten weeks of strictly following its instructions on what
to eat and what not to eat she was completely cured of her pain
We thought our readers might be interested and give below her recommendations

| Recommendations
I RECOMMEND FRUIT JUICE in the morning when the stomach is empty. I
began with a glass of carrot + green apple + celery juice every morning.
But I found it best not to stick to only one combination, that other combinations
were effective too.
- Other
combinations: two or three fruits together OR two or three vegetables together.
Except for carrots, the general rule is never to mix fruit with vegetable.
So it will be o.k. for example if you have carrot with apple or carrot
with pineapple.
- When combining vegetables with fruit, the only acceptable
fruit is green apple. Examples: green apple + carrot + celery; green apple
+ beetroot + carrot + broccoli
- Pineapple
is especially beneficial as it contains bromelain which reduced inflammation
and swelling of the joints
- It
is best to take purely fruit juices in the morning. Vegetable combinations
should be taken midday
Try to keep the following proportions when you eat:
- 45%
cooked fruit and vegetables
- 30% raw fruit and vegetables
- 25% grains, nuts, fish, meat, poultry
Adjust percentage when the pain has gone
Supplement with glucosamine sulfate (1,500 mg) and chondroitin (1,200
mg) per day to encourage cartilege growth in the knee. Half the dosage
when the pain is gone (this is for maintenance)
Supplement with vitamins A B C and E
I also use Pycnogenol (a pine bark extract which is an anti-oxident
(It is French and is in tablet form. Make sure you have the photo of the
Dr Mascallier on the bottle and/or a patent number). I stopped using this
when I had made a complete recovery

and Omega9 fatty acides which the body needs but cannot produce)
- red meat

YES
- alkaline food
- lots of vegetables and fruit, preferably uncooked
- rice based: bee hoon, koay tiaw, chee ch'eong fan
- soya products such as soya milk, bean curd
- brown rice, millet, rice, quinoa - a grain used by the Incas in Latin
America (quinoa paste is available)
- flourless bread made from sprouted seeds
- bananas (if you are sensitive to one particular type, steam or grill
with skin)
- go juicing especially in the morning, with carrot, beet root, celery,
apple, pineapple
- cod liver oil, good olive oil - extra virgin, 1st cold pressed flaxseed
oil (al these oils should preferably be taken in liquid form)
- chicken, fish
- herbal teas like chamomile, peppermint, green tea but in moderation
as it contains caffeine
- apple cider vinegar and honey in the proportion of 1 to1 teaspoonful
OR in the proportion of 2 to 2 teaspoonfuls, twice a day after meals.
This mixture mimics hydrochloric acid which aids digestion (after my recovery,
I take this combination only after heavy meals)
- I should add that 90% of the raw fruit and vegetables I used were organic.
I also drank distilled water most of the time
EXERCISES
- sit down, raise leg to strengthen the quadriceps so that body weight
will not solely be on the knees
- when walking use a good pair of walking shoes and try walking on grass
and not on hard ground like concrete
- I think that those who have a longer history of pain might find the
they need more than ten weeks for the cure.#
