          not one shadow
               very dull business

 bo chit peh bee mana ei lia tio eam-kay?
         without a handful of rice, how can you catch the chicken?

          sitting on a hill and looking at the sea
               a propitious place

 chay tiau p'ar bang
          sitting and hitting mosquitoes
               poor business,no business

 ch'au k'ar
          bad feet
                one who does not honour his words

 gor kee ch'iu
              five whiskers
                    a Romeo,  a flirt with a dirty mins

 koot t'au tang
     heavy bones
          lazy person

 kuay ch'ooi
     across the mouth
          telling tales

 knia lang ho, bo kia lang pn'ai
     afraid of people who are good, not afraid of those who are bad
          wary of wolves in sheep's clothing
           Someone who appreciates friendship and is equal to treachery

 knia lor kang kang
     walking with legs apart
          walking awkwardly

 knia mm chai lor
     walk without knowing the road
          out of the question (orig: not easily fooled)
         (Come on! ) You can do it yourself!

 kn'ua kuan bo kn'ua kair
     look high, not look down
          snob

k'iau hair
     dead prawn
          dead

lang beng paik bo soo
lang bo beng paik sneh soo
          those with understanding have no problems
          those without understanding, create problems
               understanding oneself is the basis for good relationships

 lang hai lang, lang kiu lang
     people harm people, people save people
          some cause trouble, some help others
           man is a devil, he is also a saviour )
