Galeri Seni Mutiara recently exhibited works of an older generation of painters from the 1930s to the 1970s. The great artist, Yong Mum Sen, whose abandonment of the mountains, tigers and horses that monopolised Chinese painting for bold water colour evocations of the kampong epitomised the transformation of the immigrant into a native, was represented by a work which was not typically him. The works of amongst others, Ho Kay Beng, Lee Joo For, and Tay Moh Leong were generously lent by friends of Mr Koay Soo Kau to make this exhibition a success. (L) Koay Soo Kau's 'Love.'
