Also T'ai Goo Harng (Lo Man Yuk) T'ai Gu Harng (Killing Cows Lane, cattle were formerly slaughtered there for the market. Also T'ai Goo Au (Lo Man Yuk) Tai.Goo Harng Lor T'au (Head of Killing Cows Lane) - Malay Street Ghaut. (Lo Man Yuk) T'ai Ko Harng (Lepers' Lane. Where lepers lived on the charity of certain rich Chinese) - Muda Lane. (Lo Man Yuk) Taik Soon Lor (Taik Soon Road) - Tek Soon Street. Hence T'or K'or Kay - Beach St ((Ronald Byrne The Star 22.5.85)) Tuar Ch'eng K'arng (Big Cannon Hole) - Cannon Street, so called because during the Penang riots the Government fired a shot into this place where people of the Tuar Pair Kong otherwise known as the Kian Taik Kongsi encamped. Tuar Bar Lai (The Large Police Station, the Pitt Street Police Station) - Pitt Street between China Street and Chulia Street. (Lo Man Yuk) Tuar Ch'ai Hnui Lor (Big Vegetable Garden Road, from the many vegetable gardens there) - Race Course Road (Lo Man Yuk) Tuar Cheng Harng (Big Gun Alley) - Cannon Street (Khoo Su Nin) Tuar Chooi Chnair (Big Well. Formerly there was a big water tank there) - Chulia Street Ghaut. Also the name for Pitt Street between Chulia Street and Armenian Street.ALso Iar K'ar (Foot of the Coconut Trees, there being many coconut trees there). In Cantonese, Tai Marn Lau Kai See (Chulia Street Market) (Lo Man Yuk) Tuar Chooi Chnair (Big Well) - Chulia Street Ghaut, after the big water tank there. Tuarn Pali (One Mr Paddy formerly owned a large portion of land here) - Green Hall. Also Kilin Hor (corruption of Green Hall).
